Some further information on this rare variation.
The White Half Track M16 A1 was a variant of the M3 Half Track personnel carrier used by the United States during World War II. It was designed to provide anti-aircraft protection for infantry units and was equipped with a quad .50 caliber machine gun mount.
The M16 A1 was built on the same chassis as the M3 Half Track, but it had an open-topped turret with four M2 Browning machine guns. The machine guns were mounted on a rotating mount that allowed the crew to fire in any direction. The M16 A1 was also equipped with a radar system that helped to identify enemy aircraft and guided the crew’s fire.
The M16 A1 was used extensively during World War II, particularly in the European and Pacific theaters. It was used in a variety of roles, including convoy protection, airfield defense, and ground support. The quad .50 caliber machine gun mount was effective against enemy aircraft, and the M16 A1 was credited with shooting down numerous German and Japanese planes.
