Step into the captivating world of World War II with this meticulously restored Tatra 57 Kubelwagen. This rare model, with a production number of K57-5382-73-43, takes you back in time to the height of the Third Reich.
Originally developed and produced by Tatra at the request of the occupying forces in Czechoslovakia, this Kubelwagen was built on the platform of Tatra’s esteemed Type 57 sedan. The engineers at Tatra made significant modifications to create a versatile military off-road vehicle, including changes to the chassis, ground clearance, bodywork, and even a centralized lubrication system.
Deployed from 1942 onwards, this Kubelwagen saw service primarily with high-ranking officers of the Wehrmacht, Polizei, and elite units, including select SS regiments. Its elegant design, reminiscent of the sedans of its time, made it a symbol of prestige and power.
Now, this Tatra 57 has been fully restored to its original production standards, making it a true collector’s dream. Its engine, with the matching engine number 62740, and all its peripherals have been painstakingly preserved and restored to ensure functionality and authenticity. The original gearbox and front and rear axles further enhance its historical significance.
Stepping inside, you’ll find the canvas upholstery in good condition, and the dashboard complete with its original tachometer. The electrical wiring harness is intact, with the fuse boxes properly wired. The presence of the lighting potentiometer adds to its authenticity.
The paint and camouflage, paying homage to the Battle of Normandy, exhibit a remarkable historical patina that adds character and authenticity to this Kubelwagen. The tarpaulin, adorned with camouflage stripes, is in excellent condition. At the rear, you’ll find two original Wehrmacht petrol jerry cans securely fastened to the original supports.
The attention to detail is evident throughout, with the standard NOTEK blackout nighttime running light attached to the front fender, and the standard shovel fixed along the bonnet in its original position. The iconic TATRA logo proudly graces the bonnet, completing the authentic look and feel.
Finding a functional and original Tatra 57 Kubelwagen is a rarity, making this vehicle an enticing addition to any serious collector’s inventory. Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to acquire a piece of military history that is as captivating as it is extraordinary.
