Militaria Shows This Weekend 09/09/22

Every Thursday we compile a list of the upcoming militaria shows worldwide. This weekend (09/09/22), there are a whopping 13 different shows on, all across the world, including the UK, Australia, France, the US and Denmark. And then there’s a swap meet in Virginia, USA next Thursday, which we will also include in this list.

As we remember those who lost their lives in the 9/11 terrorist attacks 21 years ago on Sunday, there will be commemorations at some of the American shows.

United States, OH – Troops in Town

The Troops in Town re-enactment and military event is being held in the Miami Valley Veterans Museum in Ohio for the 2nd year in a row this weekend. It boasts numerous military vehicles, re-enactor displays, a raffle and much more. There’s a Higgins boat inside one of the buildings and visitors will be able to visit the museum as well. The event is free to attend.

On Sunday there will be a commemoration to remember and honour those who fell on 9/11, as well as the brave first responders who attended the scene. There is a scaled down replica of the Twin Towers on display, alongside a piece of wreckage from one of the World Trade Center buildings.

United States, OR – ASMIC Military Show and Convention

In Portland, Oregon there is the ASMIC Military Show and Convention this weekend. This one is specifically a military collectors event. It is organised by the American Society of Military Insignia Collectors, but it’s for all things militaria, not just badges and insignia. The only thing that isn’t allowed is live ammunition and firearms of any kind.

Entry prices and opening times depend on whether you’re a member or not. Membership comes with quite a few perks so it’s definitely worth looking into if you’re interested in the subject.

United Kingdom – Hildenborough Militaria Fair

This fair is organised most months by Bexley Medals and Militaria. It’s a great local fair in Kent so if you live nearby, it’s worth popping in, as entry is only £1 for adults, and free for under 15s.

United Kingdom – Scotch Corner Militaria Fair

One of the biggest fair organisers in the UK is the Northern Arms Fairs, who have been operating several militaria and arms fairs all across the North for almost 45 years. The Scotch Corner fair in Darlington, North Yorkshire is one of their fairs, and it takes place this Sunday (and every other month normally). Their other shows in the North are in Liverpool, Newark and Leeds.

Being in the Holiday Inn, it is very accessible and easy to find, and there is plenty of free parking as well. This is an excellent show for both buying and selling, so if you’re in the area, it’s well worth a visit.

Australia – The Big Show

The Toowomba Militaria Fair – as its nickname also suggests – is one of the biggest militaria shows in Australia. It boasts upwards of 300 tables, so plenty to browse through, including medals, swords, books, badges, uniforms and patches, dating from the US civil war right through to modern equipment.

Toowomba has its own airport with direct flights to and from some major Australian cities. And it’s only 1.5 hours by car from Brisbane, in Eastern Australia.

Australia – Perth Historic Arms & Militaria Fair

At the opposite end of Australia, the Perth Militaria Fair will also take place this weekend. This one is slightly smaller, but it will still have 150 tables. You can expect a very busy fair as it is completely sold out for stall holders. The fair is organised by the Western Australian Arms and Armour Society in conjunction with the Veteran Car Club so there will be numerous military vehicles, too. Entry prices are affordable at $10 per adult and children under 16 are free.

Denmark – Military Days

For Danish and other Northern European collectors and military enthusiasts: Denmark’s largest military event is being held this weekend! Re-enactment and battle displays, militaria stalls, military vehicles and much more; this looks like a fun-filled weekend for the whole family. It is held on the land surrounding the Panzer Museum East, only 1 hour’s drive from Copenhagen Airport, which makes it very easily accessible.

With it being a whole-weekend event, it’s well worth the trip. Tickets are 130 Danish Krones (~£15/€17.50) for adults and 80 Danish Krones (~£9/€10) for children, which includes entry to the museum as well.

France – Brocantes Militaires

In France there are countless brocantes or carboot sales every weekend. Some of these are specifically for the buying and selling of military items and there are not one, but three of these on this Sunday!

They are held at Cambrin in the Marais region, Marseille in Southern France, and Corseulles-sur-Mer in Normandy.

At Militaria Today we have compiled the world’s most extensive militaria fairs and events list. We strive to be as accurate as we can. However, all events are subject to change, so we recommend checking with the event organisers before travelling, in case of any last-minute changes. We cover a worldwide market, so it can be hard to keep up with last-minute amendments.

Know of a show that’s not on our list?

Our fairs list is completely free for all users and show organisers! So if you know of a militaria fair, show, car boot sale, reenactment or other event that is not on our list, just get in touch and we will happily add it to our list and promote the event on our social media. Please send any submissions via our contact us page. We want to build the most complete worldwide list available.
